Partnership for 21st Century Skills

Objective: Form a leading advocacy organization responsible for promoting the integration of 21st century skills into education curriculum. Within the first year of forming the Partnership for 21st Century Skills, Infotech garnered the support of eight founding companies and organizations (AOL Time Warner Foundation, Apple Computer, Inc., Cable in the Classroom, Cisco Systems, Inc., Dell Computer Corporation, Microsoft Corporation, National Education Association, and SAP) along with a grant from the U.S. Department of Education.

Strategy & Execution: Infotech guided the coalition through research, focus groups and consensus building exercises that resulted in the groundbreaking report, Learning for the 21st Century. This report continues to provide a relevant, insightful commentary on the state of 21st century education in the United States, advocating for the inclusion of 21st century skills into the nation's K-12 curriculum. More recently, the Partnership released Results That Matter: 21st Century Skills and High School Reform outlining a compelling framework for 21st century learning that focuses on the results that matter for today's high school graduates.

Results: Today the Partnership boasts 26 member companies and organizations and continues to provide thought-provoking leadership on issues related to 21st century skills, assessment of 21st century skills, and improvement of national and state standards to reflect 21st century skills. One of the Partnership's most significant accomplishments has been the successful launch of a statewide initiative that now includes the states of West Virginia, North Carolina and Wisconsin. Each of these states has committed to integrating 21st century skills into their states' educational systems.
